Halo Loan Xchange launches Smart-Match alerts for institutional buyers

Automatic email and SMS notifications now match buyer criteria to new SBA default note listings the moment they go live.

Halo Loan Xchange has officially launched Smart-Match, a new alerting engine that automatically pairs institutional buyers with newly listed SBA defaulted notes the moment they hit the marketplace.

Buyers can configure alert profiles based on vertical, geography, unpaid balance range, and collateral type. When a new listing matches an active profile, the platform immediately sends an email and, optionally, an SMS notification so buyers can act before the listing gains broader attention.

Why it matters: in a marketplace where the highest-quality distressed notes are often bid on within hours of publication, the difference between finding out about a listing at 9am versus finding out at 4pm can mean the difference between submitting the winning bid and missing the opportunity entirely. Smart-Match was built specifically to close that timing gap for serious institutional buyers who don't have the bandwidth to manually refresh the marketplace throughout the day.

"We kept hearing from buyers that they loved the platform's data room and diligence tools, but they were finding out about listings too late in the process," said a Halo Loan Xchange product lead familiar with the rollout. "Smart-Match flips that — instead of buyers searching for listings, qualifying listings now come to them."

Early adopters in the hotel and healthcare verticals report significantly faster time-to-bid since the feature went live in beta. Internal platform data from the beta period showed that buyers with an active Smart-Match profile submitted their first bid on a matching listing, on average, well ahead of buyers relying on manual browsing alone.

How it works under the hood: each alert profile is evaluated against new listings as they are published, checking vertical, geography, unpaid principal balance range, and collateral type in combination. Matches trigger a notification through the buyer's preferred channel — email by default, with SMS available for buyers who have completed phone verification and opted in.

Smart-Match is now available to all institutional buyer accounts from the Alerts section of the dashboard. Buyers can create multiple profiles to track different acquisition strategies simultaneously — for example, a fund pursuing both hospitality and self-storage assets can run two profiles in parallel without either diluting the other's signal.

Looking ahead, the product team has indicated that additional match criteria — including reserve price thresholds and SOP liquidation stage — are under consideration for a future release, based on direct feedback from the buyer community during the beta period.
